| I am curious if there is a Quaker study Bible and/or commentary that anyone could recommend. Thanks. |

I wish there was a Quaker study bible.
So far, I've found:
Approaching the Gospels Together, a study guide from Pendle Hill. It requires a copy of H.B. Sharman's Records of the Life of Jesus, which has the gospels laid out in chronological order, except for John, which gets its own treatment. (Records is out of print, but I got a used copy cheaply on Amazon.)
The Renovare Spritual Formation Bible, which is edited by a Quaker (Richard Foster). It's generally more attuned to evangelical Protestantism (by my reading, anyway), but Quakerism is present, as it is in all of Foster's works I've seen so far.
The Quaker Bible Index cross-indexes Quaker writings with parts of the Bible. I think it's a work in progress, but very cool.
Toward a Quaker Bible Commentary also connects books of the Bible to Quaker commentary. It also appears to be work in progress.
There also was a Quaker Bible translation, by Anthony Purver in 1764, but I don't think that's available online at present, and seems to exist primarily in libraries' rare book collections.
(I did get a copy of the King James Version, as it's easier to connect with what George Fox and other early Quakers were reading and writing.) |

See also the Peace Church Bible Study Home Page, which is maintained by Quaker Susan Jeffers, an adjunct faculty member at Earlham School of Religion. Her site includes Friendly Bible Study, the method developed by Quakers Larry and Joanne Spears. _________________ Bill Samuel, Silver Spring, MD, USA
