The software used by this Forum has been upgraded to protect against the possibility of a so-called "dictionary" hack attack, which can result in a Forum being completely wiped out. James alerted me to the need to do this, and performed the upgrade for me. I want to thank him publicly for this service to the Forum.
I have also implemented certain administrative controls to block domains, etc. often associated with spam. I did this in response to an increasing amount of porno and commercial spam in the Forum (which you might never have seen, since I check several times a day normally and delete any I find). Since I did this, we seem to have been spam-free. This can't prevent the spam attacks entirely, but it should reduce them substantially. _________________ Bill Samuel, Webservant, QuakerInfo.com |

For some reason we can't start new topics in this forum.
I was wondering if it would be possible to make a link to a search result? |

Because it is primarily an announcements forum. If I allow others to start new topics, it seems to result in inappropriate topics being started. I know this sort of defeats the Site Questions part of the title, but the software limitations don't provide the options I would like. I would prefer that posts be moderated - that is, have to be approved for posting by the Administrator. But the software doesn't provide this option. I have to allow topics to be started freely or limit it to me (or anyone I would designate as a moderator) starting them.

That would be nice, but it's not the way the software does it. _________________ Bill Samuel, Webservant, QuakerInfo.com |
