Hello from Brittany. I'm very pleased to have found this forum. I attended a Quaker service many years ago when I was a student in my native Wales, and I feel myself being guided down the Quaker path. I feel the need to have "a silent time " with God, to balance my busy life bringing up three young children, teaching, and spending time with my husband. However, I'm finding it hard not to fall asleep (!) when I have a time of silence.
I look forward to "meeting" with you and learning.

Brittany - such a lovely area of France, in fact I have often contemplated selling up here in England and relocating to such an area as Brittany - not only is the standard of life better [IMHO] but property is nicer and much more cost effective. Unfortunately i do not know of any Quaker meetings in Britanny in fact there only seems to be one in Paris and one near Provence [if my memory serves me well]. However welcome to the site and hopefully it will at least fill some of the gaps that the lack of a regular meeting may leave unfulfilled.

PS - I should not worry too much about falling asleep during ones quiet time with God as Im sure that god does not find sleep to be barrier with communication and it would seem you need the rest. Try lucid dreaming, or keeping ones posture very straight and maybe avoid chairs that are too too comfortable Smile . Often members of my local meeting will fall asleep during Sunday gatherings [I myself have likewise nodded off on occasion] and though they will often be gently woken, it is often only if they begin to snore Laughing

Rwy'n dda diolch. Hyfryd i gael chi yma. Sut mae bywyd yn Llydaw? Y newyddion ar y teledu yn edrych yn ofnadwy gyda'r streiciau a rhywfaint o drais yn y dinasoedd. I am good thank you. Lovely to have you here. How is life in Brittany? The news on the television looks awful with the strikes and some violence in the cities. Matthew

Hi and hope you've met a few more Quakers by now! Just about to go on holiday when I read this. I've recently moved to Brittany. I'll get in touch when I get back.
