Bolding mine. I respectfully suggest that not interpreting it that way doesn't mean they are disregarding it or not doing something they're supposed to be doing.
Some Friends fast, for varying reasons, others do not. I would say most Friends strive for a balance of healthy and simple food, but there are no dietary requirements (or non-dietary, in this case) for Friendship.
(Also, Good Friday is a kind of unofficial protest day for Quakers- many do candlelight vigils for peace and the like. I think that does the world a little better than fasting, anyway. ) |
