| God is life. Our physical bodies are sustained by the sustenance that is provided for us from God in the food, water, air and warmth that He has placed in the world around us. Our spiritual being is nourished by the Holy Spirit -- the Spirit of Christ that proceeds from God containing the presence of Christ. As it is explained in the gospel of John, the Father has given mankind the Spirit of Truth, that takes from what belongs to Christ and gives it to men. This gift is the life of the Son of God. It is the Bread of Life. In the manner in which God sustains Christ, the Son, God will also sustain us in the measure of the life of Christ that we receive in the Holy Spirit through our relationship with His Son. As our bodies desire and need physical sustenance to have life, so do our spiritual selves desire and need the life giving communion with the presence of Christ through the Holy Spirit. As Christ is a person, it is the person of Christ that our spiritual selves desire communion with. This is love. For as the Son of God is a person, and we seek His presence in the Holy Spirit, our relationship with God through the Son is one of one person needing another -- the relationship that we have with Christ is one of love, and there is nothing that the Father does not want to give us, and nothing that we can not receive, through love for God in Christ. Seek God every day, and He will be with you in His love. |
