I just read an interesting article about "consensus finding" in the World Vouncil of Churches (http://www.theird.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?pid=571&srcid=576).

I suppose that the method of the WCC is to a certain degree inspired by Quaker ideas, even if it's more formalized (the WCC being a such a broad organization). It might be interesting to compare WCC practice with Quaker practice.

It definitely was inspired by Quakers. In particular, Eden Grace, then the FUM Representative to the WCC, was on the bodies working on the issue of a change in decision making procedure and was very influential in the WCC adopting consensus for making decisions.
