I'm reading 'Beyond Belief' (The secret Gospel Of Thomas) bt Elaine Pagels. It's a great read.
I have a pile of 15 books to read (I seem to purchase them faster than I read them!)
What are you reading? |

| Has nothing to do with religion really, but I'm reading one of my favorite authors- Sheri S Tepper. I reread Beauty, and I'm going through Grass right now. She has a very interesting take on where humanity is going in the future. |

| Ian Frazier's "On the Rez," travels among the people of the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) nation on the Pine Ridge Reservation in southwest South Dakota. Interesting stuff. |

I have just finished The Secret Message of Jesus by Brian D. McLaren.
Very interesting and has changed the way I look at the world. |

I am reading a wonderful novel by a young american novelsit. There's a lot in it --- explorations of being human and our foibles (mine anyway!). Compassionate moving and about life in extrremis (I think life is always in extremis basically, but we must hide this / from this, much of the time, I guess).
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss (Penguin)
Also at my meeting a group of us meet to ponder --- the Bible ! _________________ Abwoon : divine progenitor, breathing mindfulness through poor in spirit and the resonating realm of ruach |

Oh, yeah, I'm always reading the Bible as well. Am part of two Bible study groups which I helped form as part of the Friends in Christ ministry. _________________ Bill Samuel, Silver Spring, MD, USA

| Recently I have read Karen Armstrongs "The Spiral Staircase" and parts of her other books. Also some of the Philip Gulley Harmony series for the small town humor. And another of his books "If Grace Is True" is interesting. |

| "Instaed of Violence" by Arthur and Lila Weinberg, Grossman Publishers, 1963. How many people know that over 2,400 years ago, in an amphitheater at Athens, Lysistrada led one of the first womens' strikes for peace in history? Peace testaments are as old as literature itself, so it was a joy to read the great sages of history denounce vilolence and war. |

| I have just finished "Almost Friends" the latest in the Philip Gulley series fo Harmony books. Also "If God is Love" Philip Gulley and James Mulholland. Which I have very much enjoyed. Is anyone interested in having an on-line book discussion? I would love to go through it one chapter at a time.Aspirit |

I would like an on-line discussion too so I just ordered a copy of "If God is Love". I hope you will start a discussion. As I consider myself sort of a Quaker with training wheels, so to speak, I am not sure about leading any discussion but would welcome the opportunity to learn and participate in a discussion. |

Seeking,
i am not sure if there is a "right way" to go about it, but if there if I'am sure Bill Samules/webservent can tell me. I post a question to him.I certainly don't consider myself knowledgeable about Quakerism. From what I have gathered there isen't always a concensus on issues, and truth is revealed to us all. I would just like to hear someone else's. I live an hour and a half from meeting and don't get there enought to get envolved in anything. The last time I went there was a group meeting to read and dIiscuss this book. I also bought, "If Grace is True" but haven't read it yet.
I am hoping we could read and post one chapter a week? Anyway great to hear from you, I'll post that question and we'll know soon enough.
PS please excuse my typos, there is a lot about typing on the computor I don't know how to do. Aspirit |

Hi aspirit,
I look forward to discussing these two books. Perhaps you could start a separate thread for the book discussion? One Chapter at a time is great for me too as I tend to consider each chapter awhile before moving forward. |

My suggestion regarding discussion of specific books is that a discussion thread be started for each book for which a discussion is desired with a clear Subject. _________________ Bill Samuel, Webservant, QuakerInfo.com |
