Does anyone have any Quaker images? Statues, photographs, paintings, etc. - I am looking for images of figures in old traditional clothes - groups or single, in or out of meeting, or even a play or film. I am looking for ideas and art subjects. If so, and you wish to send me copies, please forward a private message and I will send my personal email address (I'm not sure if attachments can be sent with the forum email facility).

just type in "quaker" in Ebay search and you may see some

This is fascinating to me too, I love history and looking at old images. If you could, could you share the results of your search here.

But, let me just say something. It has been said around these internet parts that “Friends are very much a product of their time and place”, as well the statement “Friends look very much like anyone else” has been used. I think it applies well to the current century as much as the nineteenth, eighteenth or any other century where there has been a Friends movement. It might be very hard to determine what is traditional Friends clothing over the centuries.

But again it is a fascinating project your getting into. Do share the results Very Happy

Thank you for these responses. There are several Mary Dyer statues, one of which is shown on the following web page. It would be helpful to take up Matthew's offer (popculture) to have all of the images collected placed on a web page - being unable to construct one myself (my next project for the summer - hopefully)

You will find many images in the panels of The Quaker Tapestry - see http://www.quaker-tapestry.co.uk/ for the home Page; there is a link to a page showing small versions of the panels.
They are published in book form - details in the web site.

Thank you Theo, I have seen the tapestry at Kendal Meeting House and was very impressed. Incidentally, I will be attending a course at Lancaster Meeting House next Saturday and hope that there will be a few images worth photographing. I occasionally do painting and drawing and would like to collect a few Quaker images for a composition - I would use artist licence in my interpretation and not copy.
