| Here's the deal. I'm active duty and I would like to attend and possibly if it seems right, convert. I do not serve in a combat role. I have a year and a half left in the service and I will not be seeking CO status. I'm not a pro war person, but I also feel that there is a need for a military (not that I approve of current operations). I realize that it's a pacifist belief system, and I have no problem with that. Would I be frowned upon? I'm considering attending a more liberal branch. I don't consider myself to be christian, though I have been in the past, I feel I am more of a universalist. |

You fit the bill perfectly. You'd be more than welcome. _________________ .

You would almost certainly be more than welcome as an attender. If you applied for membership, the clearness committee for membership would likely explore with you your attitude towards various Quaker testimonies, including the peace testimony. This is not done as a checklist where you have to agree with everything, but to see whether overall it seems right for you to be a member. _________________ Bill Samuel, Webservant, QuakerInfo.com |

| Thank you folks, I really appreciate it. I've read that they usually want you to wait a year before you seek membership and at that point I would be close to getting out anyhow. It would also give me a chance to see if I am "at home" as a friend. |
