I am having to give four spoken prayers to a group in a few weeks and I was hoping to find some beautiful prayers.
Does anyone have any links to some wonderful prayers or any favorites?
Thank you for any suggestions. Peace, Love and Health _________________ Christina

Are the prayers on, or for any particular subject (s) or special occasion ? It'll help me to have a think about it.
Best wishes for this interesting challenge,

They are for different times of the day .... some at morning, some before a meal and one for days end. I have found a few Native American prayers that were very good. Thank you for any help. _________________ Christina

This one is just beautiful to me. I think I'll use as one of the prayers but I need four more.
"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,
Whose breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others.
Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy
Myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.

I love the 23rd Psalm.
'Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies'
I don't think that we have enemies as such, unless we decide otherwise - we are all made in the image and likeness of God. I used to think that this table was for food, or at least a means of defence - a stock of weapons to kill one's enemies. Now I see this as an impossibility. Rather, for me, it is a table of love to share among ourselves and those who would harm us - how could it be otherwise?
'And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever' - in the consciousness and protection of God or Love for ever, and ever.
I understand this as an affirmative prayer and it can relax and settle me down in a few seconds. |
