Yes, the anabaptists have a book called "Martyr Spiegel" in German. A.K.A. "The Bloody Theater or Martyrs Mirror by a Dutch Mennonite named Thielman VanBracht.

It was one of the first books actually printed in America. It contains the accounts of hundreds and even thousands of sufferings of the Anabaptists under Catholic and Lutheran persecution.

The Hutterites also have a huge book of over a thousand martyrs of their faith called: "The Chronicle of the Hutterian Brethren".

I believe we as Friends often forget what our ancestors suffered "for the cause of Christ."

I have several Quaker martyrs in my own family tree. It leaves one wondering would we be so faithful should we have to give an account for our own faith in Christ.

Thy Friend,
Dan

Hi Dan, I had never heard about the Hutterite publication. I have to research that now.

I do agree with you, would modern people be able to suffer for their faith the way they did in the past. I don’t really want to discover if I could bear being placed in prison for my faith, for instance, or worse.
I guess I’m lucky that I don’t have to suffer martyrdom more than the odd question like “really? Are you sure you believe that?”
