Hi everyone! I'm mds1207 (aka Mark) and am just beginning my Friends trail. I am a lifelong (52 yrs) Pentecostal who has become somewhat disillusioned with institutionalized religion.

A series of seemingly unrelated "coincidences" brought me to my first Friends meeting in Charleston WV. I have been reading about Friends each day to ensure that we are philosophically aligned and, to date, have found nothing that I'm diametrically opposed.

My goal in this forum is to gain a deeper understanding of Friends to help me make an informed decisions whether to stay on the trail or continue searching elsewhere. My offering to the Forum will be open and honest, and presented only to lift others up. I look forward to this journey.

Please feel free to contact me at mds1207@hotmail.com.

You'll find something to be opposed to at this forum, no matter what you believe... though, everyone is usually polite. Friends are currently far from unified, and what you find changes from place to place... this forum crosses over 19th century splits... Kevin is likely most like what you've read (being the resident Conservative Friend.) I identify with wider-Christianity as well as with Friends... 'evangelicals' are under-represented here, and liberals are pretty well represented.

The people I met from SAYMA were pretty interesting.... Christ-centered liberals, I think -- though, any FGC YM has a range.

God bless you in your search / life-journey. Walk with us as long as you wish.
