I attended the local Friends meeting Sunday, for the first time.
I found a common energy shared in silent seeking for that of God. It
was beautiful and I am going back next week. The people were so very
kind and many approached me to talk and asked if I had any questions. I
did ask to see the library of books they have available for anyone to
borrow. A woman and I talked in the library and I was given an
introductory packet for new people and a copy of "Faith and Practice".
The people I met were informative without being pushy. I felt very welcome and comfortable. During the meeting one man stood and related an
experience he had while hiking on a Mountain where he felt close to
God. Afterwards, there were refreshments served and people talked. I
could sense deep spirituality and strong community among these people. I love
the fact that Quakers see personal experience as more important
than dogma.
I was raised in a very rigid Christian denomination and I felt stifled
in it. I find the Society of Friends worship to be very expressive of
my spiritual search for communion with God. I felt like I came home.
Bless you all, John.

That's made my day. I am so pleased for you.

Take care.

Laughing I kind of jumped after I said " I am John and this is my first meeting" , about 30 people said "Welcome!" in unison. It was great though.
This coming Sunday my Fiancee is going to accompany me to meeting.
